The Syria Lebanon Partnership Network

The Syria-Lebanon Partnership Network of the PC(USA) brings together Presbyterians from around the United States to facilitate partnerships with churches and church-related ministries in Syria and Lebanon. The network provides a place for U.S. Presbyterians to share information and coordinate their efforts. Priorities of the network include supporting the capacity of the church in Syria and Lebanon, supporting leadership development and theological education, and working towards God's just peace in the region.

Easter 2025 in Latakia, Syria

The Evangelical (Presbyterian) Church in Latakia is an SLPN mission partner. Latakia is a port city on the Mediterranean coast in northwestern Syria. The crowded church was alive on Easter Sunday to celebrate Christ's resurrection — see the video below. Worship was led by the Rev. Salam Hannah and the Rev. Kherallah Atallah.  An egg, symbol of new life, was given to each worshipper at the close of the service as they left the church to go out into the world as witnesses to Christian hope and love in a Syria struggling with recovery from war, dictatorship, and economic collapse.

CHRISTIANS IN THE MIDDLE EAST: TOWARDS RENEWED THEOLOGICAL, SOCIAL, AND POLITICAL CHOICES

“How can we be a better church?” is the question that motivated 11 Arab Christian theologians to meet together for one year and create the prophetic document for understanding the realities and challenges facing the church in the Middle East in the 21st century. The document also holds up a mirror in which American Presbyterians can see ourselves challenged by many of the same issues. Read more about the document and download a copy.

Syria: The Burden of Memory and the Hope of the Gospel

The Study Guide was written by four members of the Syria-Lebanon Partnership Network of the Presbyterian Church, USA.  We felt strongly that the views of our partners in the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon, and Syrians generally, are not being heard in the U.S.  We hope this Study Guide will help our church understand the background and current situation in which the Middle East finds itself. Read more about the Study Guide and find a link to the PC(USA) Store to purchase copies.
