Appeal for Lebanon Humanitarian Response

The Syria Lebanon Partnership Network stands alongside our partners in Lebanon as the country is engulfed in war again. We ask for your prayers for Lebanese civilians who are now displaced and for those grieving, as we ask for prayers for all those suffering in the entire region. As of this writing (March 6, 2026) hundreds of thousands of Lebanese have been displaced. We share with you the following emergency appeal from our partner, the Compassion Protestant Society (CPS) to aid the growing number of displaced persons. In SLPN's last appeal for displaced Lebanese, the Network raised $25,000. May the spirit of compassion and generosity enable us to match or exceed that figure in this urgent appeal.

Dear Sisters & Brothers,

Grace and peace to you.

Many of you stood with us during the escalation in Lebanon in October 2024. Your prayers, encouragement, and generosity strengthened both our communities and our resolve during a very difficult season. We remain deeply grateful.

However, it is with deep sorrow that I write to you again in the context of renewed, and possibly aggravated, hostilities. Escalating hostilities and expanding military activity have triggered new waves of displacement, particularly from the South and parts of Beirut. Families, many of whom had not even fully recovered from the previous confrontations, are leaving their homes again under urgent conditions, seeking refuge wherever they can.

In the midst of this, we are reminded of the words of the Psalmist:

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…” (Psalm 46:1–2)

We at Compassion Protestant Society, as the diaconal arm of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria & Lebanon, feel called to respond in faithfulness and hope. Through our network of churches and community centers, we are mobilizing to support displaced families, especially children, with psychosocial care, safe spaces, and practical assistance during this turbulent time.

Attached to this message you will find a brief humanitarian appeal outlining our planned response and the ways partners can stand with us.

Above all, we ask for your prayers: for wisdom, protection, and peace for Lebanon and the wider region. And if you feel led to support this effort, your partnership will directly help vulnerable families experience dignity, care, and hope in a moment of great uncertainty.

Thank you for standing with us once again.
With gratitude and hope,

Amir D. Btar

Executive Director, Compassion Protestant Society
